This interview was recorded on November 21, 1971. When Phyllis entered the recording room for the interview, she picked up a book and began to read aloud from it while she awaited Walter’s arrival. Upon entering the room, Walter was so enamored by the topic and by the sound of her voice, he signaled the engineer to begin rolling the tape as she read. The interview opened with her reading. The magic of her voice continued throughout the interview.
