A Conversation With Stirling Moss October, 1962

Surely, the most satisfying of Walter Dixon’s experiences with the Watkins Glen Grand Prix races was the personal time he spent with Stirling Moss.  Stirling inspected Walter’s 1954 XK120 racing Jaguar, leaving his signature etched onto the dashboard’s brass plaque.  Stirling also had a very personal conversation with Walter at the Jefferson Hotel where Stirling was staying during his visit to Watkins Glen.

Below we present that conversation as it aired in October 1962 as a feature of  WHAM’s Department of News and Special Affairs which was hosted by Dick Tobias.

The name, Dick Tobias belongs to a radio newscaster and a motor racing driver.  It is easy to conflate the two when researching the name.  Photos of WHAM’s Dick Tobias were nonexistent.  However, one was found for his time with WHEC which has been included here.  For more about WHAM’s Dick Tobias, please click on his name wherever it appears here as a hyperlink.
