In 1961, Walter Dixon was no stranger to the Watkins Glen International Grand Prix races.  Exactly when he convinced the WHAM news department that live coverage of the races would generate major interest among a large percentage of WHAM’s listening audience is unknown.  However, he joined WHAM in 1959 so it was most likely in time for the 1960 races.

A racing enthusiast himself, he took pride in driving his 1954 XK 120 racing Jaguar (with modified cam) to The Watkins Glen race track.

Walter was proud of the fact that Stirling Moss engraved his name on the dashboard plaque which certified his Jaguar as being an exact replica of the one which achieved the record-breaking speed of 141.51 M.P.H. at Jabbeke, Belgium.
